Our Story

Sue Watson founder and now Operations Director started childminding from her rural Oxfordshire home in 1990. Sue was inundated with demand from parents wanting her to care and educate their children which led Sue and husband John to organically grow their nursery group which has over the past 27 years provided care and education to thousands of children. In 2009 daughter Jessica joined her parents to help continue to provide that same quality and passion that has always existed within their nurseries.

Sue, John and Jessica now run Aurora Childcare two nurseries located within Oxfordshire at the Horton Hospital in Banbury and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. Our aim is to create a true ‘home from home environment’ that fosters children’s natural curiosity for learning and allows every child to grow confidently as an individual.

Our philosophy

We believe every child brings with them a deep curiosity and potential and this innate curiosity drives their interest to understand the world and their place within it. We provide the perfect balance between care and education that allows children to flourish.
It is Aurora Childcare’s aim to ensure that our child-carers and educators are of the highest calibre, working in harmony with parents and their family values, to make the nursery environment a true home from home. Our key- persons are qualified professionals, who can provide the close relationship a young child needs, with the experience to encourage them at every developmental stage from crawling and babbling to reading and writing. All our staff work to ensure that every child’s day is filled with fun and experiences, which nurture confidence and independence. Our nurseries allow our children to learn about the world through experimentation and active discovery.
We are proud that the results of our Ofsted inspections have been consistently good.
